T'was just a garden in the rain. Close to a little leafy lane. A touch of color 'neath skies of gray. The raindrops kissed the flowerbeds. The blossoms raised their thirsty heads. A perfumed thank you. They seemed to say. Surely here was charm beyond compare to view. Maybe it was just that I was there with you. T'was just a garden in the rain. But then the sun came out again. And sent us happily on our way.

this christmas...

I'm thankful for my brother's health. He was on vacation with 8 friends in Phuket. The mini bus they took on a road trip collided with a motorcycle causing the bus to spin and crash into a mud wall. All 9 of them were sent to the hospital and two had surgeries. Now they're all safe and sound and the brother's back resting. He has to do physiotherapies for his back but all is well.

I'm touched by the bride's gift. handmade with lots of love.

I'm stuffed with food from a high tea with mummy and the boy.

I'm surprised by the boy's gift of The Nutcracker ballet. The boy realised that I've missed the show with Clydie because of a wedding dinner and i was fooled once again into thinking that we're having a special dinner. so lo and behold when he opened his wallet and took out the tickets :)

I'm amazed at the ginormous ham that the boy's mum bought.

I'm looking forward to reading the books i got. I finally found Spain: A culinary road trip in Kino!Delicious pictures. delicious food. along with Marley & Me. Letters to Sam and A long way home: Memoirs of a boy soldier.

I'm reminded of Christ's love for us.

and that I'm loved.

Our super organic healthy dinner.

Introducing Mr Sandhu. The Chief Invigilator. And his Christmas tree.

The superheroes of the exam hall. The Hair. The Mum. The Night Owl. The 'I don't care.' The Chief.

Really blessed. The classparent has been serving up treats from coffee bean & crystal jade daily. I'm sad that he's leaving. He's a great teacher with a towering presence and the rowdy ones listen to him. i wish he'd still be around next year to calm my rowdy bunch.

Hopping in love

Hoppy's wedding last week. we had the privilege of attending her traditional ceremony at the temple. It was beautiful. I was awed by the vibrant colours. so pretty. Those cotton candy saris and punjabi suits...
The strikingly gorgeous Hoppy in her exquisite sari.... deep reds and gold embriodery...designed by her mother. :) Dinner reception was held at The Pines. It was a cozy and pretty affair filled with teary toasts and plenty of dancing.
the babes and their boys.....All the couples were invited to the dancefloor.
It was also the first time the boy and I danced - a slow couply dance.
.completely smitten with the boy.
Weddings

With 4 lawyers and a teacher, it was so difficult to arrange a gathering. Finally, after many emails and messages, we finally settled for a delightful and hearty breakfast last saturday at "Choupinette," a pretty little french bakery/cafe near coronation. I had their famous eggs benedict and it was unbelievable. Eunice, Jenn and i gave a collective sigh of satisfaction when we bit into the layers of bacon, bread and eggs. it was so amusing. we are definitely going back there again. Since that day, i've cut down my daily diet of eggs so i can save some room for many more treats here. :)

1 thing i want to accomplish this year is to learn a third language. I figured if i'm going to teach a generation of kids to learn english and love english literature, i should learn a new language as well. Having fallen in love with Italy, it was a struggle deciding whether to learn spanish or italian. I finally settled on spanish and registered for my basic spanish at Las Lilas. Had my first lesson last monday and it was fabulous! There were a total of 11 of us in the class, an irish couple claire and Micheal, Lina from switzerland and rebecca from england, Merlien from indonesia, Parta from India, Yingxiao from china. The only other singaporeans are Amanda & Ray. We made up a rather cozy class. Everyone was friendly and i felt really comfortable. Our tutor Monica is uber cute and quirky. She came in and bombarded us with a string of spanish words- her way of getting us used to listening to spanish. Though slightly intimidating at first, it was an excellent way of helping us remember the meanings and intonation of the words. After an hour and a half of learning the alphabets (alfabeto), identifying the femenino and masculino nouns... we played hangman using the spanish words we have learnt. Had my second lesson just now and we had a new tutor- Anna. She was more serious but still friendly. I still miss Monica though. Hope she'll be back soon.
Foodie update:
12/01 at a sweet little cafe "Food for Thought" situated opposite National library along Purvis street. Evan, Jenn and Shin frequents this cafe, given that their offices are near. The cakes are their specialties. The red velvet cake is out of this world. A set lunch (sandwich with salad/soup) costs 7 plus. extremely reasonable. made me really full so that's good. Cakes and girlfriends. Perfect for a saturday afternoon. It's been a long time since i caught up with all of them and it was truly a joy to finally hear about their work experiences. Anecdotes coming out from the various law firms. It's really a wonder that i ended up in a dg with law girls and it has been a fruitful journey for all of us to be discipled by Evan. Evan as usual looks fresh and so 'together.' None of us changed. and i'm super thankful for that. Missing them already. (:

21/01- Beef Burgundy pie at Piper's Pies along 6th avenue. I couldn't resist playing with the pies.... extricated the flowers from it :)

~ Swan Lake ~

23rd Dec-The long awaited Swan Lake.

A double date with clydia and haiks.

Fooling around at the intermissions. The performance was exquisite. The costumes were breathtaking and the sets were elaborate. Dancers... beautiful. 3 hours. Truly a fairy tale affair. The whole evening was simply magical. Kudos to Singapore Dance Theatre for going all out.

Pretty lights in Esplanade

Merry Christmas Peeps!
