i'm so glad the exams are over. I could not have survived those 3 tormentous weeks without the company of a bunch of sisters and brothers. thank you Hansel for your unceasing passion... the daily Worship under the stars brings comfort to us... to the crying sisters... clydia, lien, Lindy & Joann.. thanks for your unfailing love... helping me see the roses amidst the thorns and helping me be thankful for the thorns too. For kailuo for cracking us up, always. For justin & his encouraging cards though using the emily rose postcards is abit too eerie...for Barney for being so nice to help us buy food...
i had the privilege of attending 2 church weddings in the past month
19th Nov: Shirley & Aaron!
the wedding was beautiful... i remember the collective sigh from us at the front pew seats... Jamie, clydia, Lien, Lindy... my gosh.... we all wanted to get married at that moment.... Even Hansel felt something... and seeing their lives together and how they have touched mine.. over the past year in crusade... sad that they are leaving the campus ministry but so happy for them that they are doing what God is calling them to.. reaching out to ground zero.
3rd Dec: Grace and Lincoln!
Grace is our punj bible study group leader! thankful for her wackiness and i'll miss her when we move on to a new dg when the new year starts.
sermon at grace's wedding: surprises that you would never expect in a marriage
1) a marriage is an invitation to die unto oneself
2) A marriage is keeping our eyes on a Third Party: Jesus
We'll build a household of faith
that together we can make
when the strong winds blow
it won't fall down
~
As one in him we'll grow
and the whole world will know
we are a household of faith
Now to be a family
Now to be a family
We've got to love each other at any cost, unselfishly
and our home must be a place that fully abound with faith
a reflection of His faith.
5th dec: caught up with the dancers for dinner at Marche. it's been so long since all of us came together. And i was so glad to be able to make it coz i wouldn't trade it for any other night out. seeing suyun, silver (still the same baobao in our hearts), yixiu and sheryl was a surreal experience...seeing them blossom into such fine ladies. as seniors, we felt so old. seeing how their paths are so different, some have taken the road less travelled...living out their dreams...it brings me immense comfort and joy to see that we're all still the same. as down to earth, as crazy as ever. talking till 3.30 am right in the middle or orchard... can't remember when was the last time i had such an experience... a real genuine... heart to heart talk among 6 girls... whom i have since that night looked upon as girlfriends and sisters.... thanks xiaoqi for opening the floodgate of tears... the sight of us going around the tables sharing our heartaches and pain, taking turns to cry... letting it all out...
Peiyun dear, stay strong ya. i cherish the conversations the past few nights. call me anytime k. hugs.
Happy Sweet 21!
~ whenever one door closes, i hope one more opens~
6th Dec: shopping with Herds. we celebrated Arthur's extremely belated birthday. it dawned on me and xiaoxi that the guys from our class are so so nice... and i know they will never break a girl's heart. Poon, Peiying, Boonsong, Arthur... thanks for being there for us girls.... =) To xiaoxi dearest. no matter what happens, we will get through it together k. Hugs! =)
~ promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance ~
8th Dec: Lunch at Sakae with Kailin. I love you girl. you are my JieMei forever. What would i do without you? i'm looking forward to our 10th year of friendship & "more dresses to come." *wink wink*
~ when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, i hope you dance ~
Today: Haircut with Xiaoqi.... we decided to try a new hairstylist...we were both intimidated by the hairstylist. He was soo icy and cool. the hair didn't turned out the way we intended...bleah...:p the atmosphere was just entirely COLD. the only nice person- the girl who washed my hair.. her hand was gentle and she knew where to massage the head plus she was friendly! sigh...i went in thinking of doing something different to the hair and ended up with something exactly the same as before except shorter. great. the surprise i had in mind is gone! argh... we both agreed it's so hard to find a reliable hairstylist who knows exactly what you want... one that is WARM and i am SO NOT going to rely on recommendations. well... at least we had fun chilling at coffee bean. ('',)
As for you, Mr Jordan. i'm missingg you. i cannot wait for you to return from the ANNTIC camp tmr! if i miss u so much already after only 6 days... what's going to happen when u go off for exchange? hmmm.....
the hymn that accompanied me through the last days of the semester.
came across a lovely version of it at
In Christ Alone
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
~
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
~
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
~
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
~
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
~
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
~
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
~
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand
