T'was just a garden in the rain. Close to a little leafy lane. A touch of color 'neath skies of gray. The raindrops kissed the flowerbeds. The blossoms raised their thirsty heads. A perfumed thank you. They seemed to say. Surely here was charm beyond compare to view. Maybe it was just that I was there with you. T'was just a garden in the rain. But then the sun came out again. And sent us happily on our way.

It is hard to comprehend that in this day and age the barbaric baby seal clubbing has resumed in Canada. The baby seal killers are referred to as hunters and the annual event as a "seal hunt." However, I have always been under the impression that a hunt according to Webster's Dictionary was "to search eagerly or carefully for; try to find; to pursue, chase, drive, etc." This savage event does not fit the bill as a hunt – it is a massacre.
~~
This year Canada has announced an astounding increase in the number of seals that can be killed each year. That means that up to 350,000 seals may be killed in a matter of just a few days in which Greenpeace said, "It would be the world's largest slaughter of marine mammals. Seals older than two weeks are considered fair game. In fact 95 percent of the seals killed are still no more than four months old."

I love baby seals and this is madness!! What is freaking wrong with them?!
