T'was just a garden in the rain. Close to a little leafy lane. A touch of color 'neath skies of gray. The raindrops kissed the flowerbeds. The blossoms raised their thirsty heads. A perfumed thank you. They seemed to say. Surely here was charm beyond compare to view. Maybe it was just that I was there with you. T'was just a garden in the rain. But then the sun came out again. And sent us happily on our way.

:: a lovely closing ::

We gathered at the boy's place on New Year's eve for dinner and celebrating the return of Haojie from a year's exchange in Shanghai. The view from the living room never fails to take my breath away. The yummy chicken curry and beehoon prepared by the boy's mum and huiguang's bacon wrapped asparagus and cheese which we had lots of fun wrapping.

Dinner was a cozy and tickling affair as Haojie describes his adventures in Shanghai and inner Mongolia. Following a full and satisfied meal, we sat around as ...

Fiona joined in.

the boy's dad joined in as well with eagles' Hotel California. It got us so excited that we googled the lyrics and sang along. what followed was a mini karaoke session....

Alvin and yanyi
thank you for the pretty bracelet :) still wearing it.

Relaxed and happy

My favorite shot of them. Old movie feel.
Back in the dining area
Teresa Teng's wo zhi zai hu ni (i only care about you)

Chunzhen and Justin. Their arrival signaled the cue for Mayday's Chunzhen (innocence)
This is Justin looking sheepish and shy as the guys tried to persuade him to serenade Chunzhen with the song. His protests failed to stop the rest of us from singing it though.

Singing soon gave way to a time of games. Yanyi brought a boardgame that revolves around bluffing. i think the name of the game is baldaudash... sometime like that. It was hilarious. Basically each individual has to make up a meaning of a word chosen from the category and the point is to guess the correct answer and convince the rest to vote for your meaning. My favorite one of the day. The category was person- Avery Bunting and Peijuan came up with Doctor who discovered that the heart goes lup lup.

As midnight sets in... all of us adjourn to the corridor to look at the fireworks. it was quite a distance away so the fireworks looked really small. It looked like spurts of light. We were expecting grand big ones similar to NDP but in the words of Haojie " they probably used up all the money for NDP." And so we ushered in the New year playing and chatting till 4 am.
